The Great Books Foundation is proud to have the generous support of numerous organizations and corporations.

Introducing Our Newest Partner: Whyville

The Great Books Foundation has partnered with Whyville to bring engaging literature to middle school students in a virtual world, Great Books Roundhouse, a one-of-a kind experience for today's computer-savvy middle school students.

The AVI CHAI Foundation

In 1998, the Great Books Foundation received a grant from the AVI CHAI Foundation to develop a Great Books Jewish literature program. The resulting anthology, The Soul of the Text, captures the rich diversity of Jewish literature and invites readers to join the ongoing conversation that is an integral part of the Jewish literary tradition.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Trust

In December 2006, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Trust awarded the Great Books Foundation $470,000 for a three-year project to implement Junior Great Books programs in five Chicago Public Schools. The grant was one of the first grants awarded by the Trust.  In December 2010, CME continued its support of Great Books K–12 programs by awarding a $25,000 grant to support a new Great Books Roundtable™ program for middle school students at Chicago's Mahalia Jackson Elementary School. 

Early Advantage

Early Advantage, distributors of Muzzy, the BBC-producted early language learning program, and other educational products for families, supports the Great Books at Amherst Summer Reading Program.

Encyclopaedia Britannica

Great Books teachers receive a free six-month subscription to Britannica Online, and teachers and students using our Perfection Learning titles for middle and high school will find links to related Encyclopaedia Britannica articles on our website. Britannica also supports the Great Books Chicago annual conference.

Hansol Gyoyook

Hansol Gyoyook, a leading provider of supplementary educational programs in South Korea, worked with the Foundation to develop a program based on Junior Great Books for home use with Korean children ages 5–11.The program, Junior Plato, has served more than one million children since 2003.

Harrison Middleton University

Harrison Middleton University College of the Humanities and Sciences, a Great Books distance-learning college established in 1997, supports new Foundation publications and co-sponsors the annual Great Books Chicago conference. The college offers undergraduate and graduate education in the humanities with concentrations in imaginative literature, natural science, philosophy and religion, and social science.

K12.com

Junior Great Books is now available for homeschoolers at K12.com, a new online curriculum that provides parents of homeschoolers with lesson plans, assessments, planning and progress tools, materials, and a variety of other educational support. K12's curriculum also includes courses in math, science, history, art, and music.

Masterpiece

PBS Masterpiece, the longest-running prime time drama in American television and one of its most honored, has remained steadfast in its commitment to bringing the best in literature-based drama to viewers. The Great Books Foundation is an official outreach partner for Masterpiece Classic. 

Novell, Inc.

A generous donation of Net Services software from Novell, Inc. to the Great Books Foundation enhanced the Foundation's network and intranet capacities and improved the Foundation's ability to provide Web-based support for Great Books discussion leaders and educators. The donation was made as part of Novell's community relations program that focuses on the areas of education, community needs, and development.

Penguin Books

The Great Books Foundation collaborated with Penguin Books to produce a series of online discussion guides for selected classic and contemporary fiction and nonfiction book-length works. The discussion guides are available on both the Penguin Books and the Great Books Web sites. The Foundation's "Recommended for Discussion" seal appears on the cover of each book. 

Perfection Learning

The Great Books Foundation has teamed up with Perfection Learning to create discussion guides for selected texts from Perfection Learning's groundbreaking Literature & Thought and Many Voices literature series.

Perfection Press

The print-on-demand services from Perfection Press make possible Junior Great Books Classroom Publishing.

Project on Civic Reflection

The Great Books Foundation collaborated with The Project on Civic Reflection and editors Adam Davis and Elizabeth Lynn to produce the Civically Engaged Reader. Established in 1998 with support from Lilly Endowment, The Project on Civic Reflection encourages the practice of civic reflection,reading, and conversation on fundamental questions of civic life.

Promise Cyber School

Promise Cyber School uses Great Books literature and the Shared Inquiry method to help people of all ages develop their English language skills online.

Staples Foundation for Learning

Staples generously supports the Great Books Readers 2 Leaders   program in several Chicago public schools. Readers to Leaders helps high school students create their own after-school book clubs. Students perfect their leading skills in discussions with peers before leading groups of students in nearby elementary schools.

Verizon

Verizon is currently supporting the creation of several short instructional videos that demonstrate the concept of a Shared Inquiry Instructional Video Library. Teachers would be able to access the library online or even from smartphones. Verizon has also supported the Verizon Great Books, Great Kids program and the Great Books Great Teachers Awards.
