Special Projects

To further our mission, the Great Books Foundation sometimes seeks grants for projects that bring the Great Books philosophy of learning and Shared Inquiry discussion to new audiences. Projects serve students and educators from kindergarten through college, parent volunteers, and adults committed to lifelong learning.

Model Schools
Already demonstrating strong results, the nationwide Great Books Model Schools Project is bringing Junior Great Books to 7,000 students in nine elementary schools.
CMET
In 2007, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Trust awarded the Foundation $470,000 to implement three-year Junior Great Books programs in five of the most challenged schools in Chicago.
Readers 2 Leaders
The Great Books Readers 2 Leaders program is a 10-week leadership development and service-learning program for college and high school students who are interested in pursing careers in education or other work with young people.
Great Books in Prisons
Some of the most interesting Great Books groups to be found anywhere meet in prisons. With the help of dedicated volunteers, the Great Books Foundation has worked to expand intellectual horizons for incarcerated men and women.
