Chicago Women: Celebrating Our Voices
Exploring How Gender Impacts Women’s Lives
On May 17, 2016, the Great Books Foundation celebrated the release of Her Own Accord: American Women on Identity, Culture, and Community. Nina Barrett and Laura Negrete, two of the authors included in the book, participated in an interview panel with Michele Morano, Director of the Graduate Program in Writing and Publishing at DePaul University. In a thought-provoking and thoroughly enjoyable discussion, the authors discussed their creative processes, their experiences as women writers, and broader issues relating to gender. After the panel discussion, the authors answered questions from attendees and signed copies of Her Own Accord.
Chicago Women: Celebrating Our Voices was co-sponsored by DePaul University’s English department, Women’s and Gender Studies department, and Women’s Center.
We are proud to announce that we collected over ten boxes of clothes and toiletries to donate to our community partner, Dress for Success Worldwide-Central. Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and life.
Thank you to our partners for helping us celebrate Her Own Accord and #HerVoice!
