The Great Books Foundation is partnering with the Chicago Humanities Festival to present Great Books discussions. The entire event runs from October 3 until November 16, 2008 at various locations throughout Chicago, and the festival's theme is ''Thinking Big.''

On Saturday, November 1, 2008 there will be a Great Books discussion of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby from 12-1 p.m. There will also be a discussion of The Epic of Gilgamesh from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Both events will take place in the Museum of Contemporary Art, in the Kanter Meeting Center. A staged reading of Pulitzer-prize winning poet and Princeton professor, Yusef Komunyakaa's play, adapted from The Epic of Gilgamesh, will follow the second discussion ($15). Both discussions are free with reservations required. Reading materials will be provided at the site.
