Great Books Chicago 2008: April 25-27

Join us in the Windy City April 25–27 for Great Books Chicago 2008. The theme of this year's event is "Deadly Sins." Activities include:

  • Opera's Ten Deadly Sins, a program by Toronto's "Meistersinner" and opera educator, Iain Scott
  • A Chicago Symphony Orchestra performance of Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique and the Prelude and Liebestod from Wagner's Tristan and Isolde
  • Lively Great Books discussions of Faulkner's "A Rose For Emily," Lawrence's "The Rocking-Horse Winner," Dostoevsky's "Stavrogin's Confession,"and Wharton's Ethan Frome
  • A visit to the Art Institute of Chicago
  • A screening of the film Chicago at the Siskel Film Center
