Book groups that want to discuss a great work of hardboiled mystery fiction will have the opportunity with the spring selection recently announced by Mayor Richard M. Daley on March 14. The selection is Raymond Chandler's The Long Goodbye (1953).
The selection guide—distributed to thousands of readers at libraries and bookstores in the metropolitan Chicago area—includes questions for discussion written by Daniel Born, the Foundation's Vice President for Post-Secondary Programs. Dr. Born will also lead discussion for the library staff at Harold Washington Library Center on April 10. Download the guide to The Long Goodbye, which includes biographical material about the author, events listings, and discussion questions.
