Workshops For Book Groups
The Great Books Foundation is the leading advocate for Socratic education, and the Foundation offers workshops for book groups wanting to strengthen their discussions. Experience shows that the quality of discussion is enhanced when some or all of the members of a book group have attended Shared Inquiry™ training. In this workshop, both leaders and participants learn how to prepare for and participate in Shared Inquiry discussions. Workshops can be tailored to the needs of the group, but most are one-day sessions with six to eight hours of instruction.
The workshop includes:
- Participation in a demonstration discussion
- Guidelines for writing discussion questions
- Tips for effective follow-up questions
- Critiqued practice discussions
- Advice on handling common difficulties
