Workshops for Book Groups

Experience shows that the quality of discussion is enhanced when some or all of the members of an adult Great Books group have attended Shared Inquiry training. In this recommended workshop, both leaders and participants learn how to prepare for and participate in Shared Inquiry discusssions. Workshops can be tailored to the needs of the group, but most are one-day sessions, six to eight hours of instruction. The workshop includes:

  • Participation in a demonstration discussion
  • Writing questions for interpretive discussion
  • Learning to ask effective follow-up questions
  • Leading and participating in critiqued practice discussions
  • Advice on handling common difficulties
