Great Books Great Teachers

Since 2003, the Foundation has recognized extraordinary K-12 educators with the Great Books Great Teachers award. Nominated by their colleagues, Great Teachers exemplify the highest standards of leading Great Books programs. From kindergarten through high school, Great Teachers transform their classrooms into engaging learning environments where students thrive and make dramatic gains in essential literacy skills.

Every spring the Foundation commends the work of Great Teachers by inviting them to Chicago for a weekend celebration. Teachers attend an awards dinner in their honor and are the Foundation's special guests at Great Books Chicago, an annual event for Great Books enthusiasts that includes participating in Shared Inquiry™ discussions and enjoying a variety of cultural activities at Chicago theaters, museums, and architectural landmarks.
