Great Books Foundation
On-Site Consulting

The most effective use of the Great Books Foundation program of professional development combines core and advanced courses (see New Course Options) with carefully planned on-site consultation visits that support leaders individually.

  • 100-level consultation days provide instructor-led demonstrations of Shared Inquiry with students and meetings with teachers to provide basic support, answer questions, and explain how to adapt the program to your specific situations.
  • 200-level consultation days allow teachers to co-lead classes of students with a Great Books Foundation instructor, and provide time for meetings to share strategies and troubleshoot any problems.
  • 300-level consultation days provide you with individualized coaching to take your questioning to a higher level; these days can also be customized to provide other support as needed to make your program successful.
  • Consultation days at any level can be combined and customized to provide the support your program needs—including presentations to groups of parents or other teachers, lesson or curriculum planning to connect Great Books to other subject areas, and more.

CBAM

Great Books consulting supports the Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM) of teacher learning. The CBAM model of teacher learning recognizes that teachers move through various stages of learning in adopting innovations in teaching, and that different support is needed at each stage.
