Verizon has awarded the Great Books Foundation a $60,000 grant for a technology project that will help two Illinois schools implement Junior Great Books. The grant will pay for books, materials, teachers' on-site professional development, and a program of online follow-up support.
The grant supports Great Books, Great Kids, a program funded by Verizon to help schools improve students' reading and critical-thinking skills through Junior Great Books.
In addition to on-site support, teachers will interact with their colleagues and receive direct support from Great Books Foundation instructors online, using software provided by Marratech, a leader in Internet-based video-conferencing.
For complete details, see the grant fact sheet.
