
In the Great Books Readers 2 Leaders (R2L) program, high school or college students learn how to lead literature discussions for younger students in their communities. The older students develop leadership skills, explore teaching as a career, and deliver a wonderful program to children who look up to their leaders as role models.
Readers 2 Leaders offers students serious service learning for the following valuable skills:
Leadership—Set goals, make decisions, and facilitate group interaction
Teaching—Carry out group instruction with planning, preparation, and assessment
Teamwork—Collaborate with peers in all aspects of the program
Problem-solving—Identify challenges and develop strategies to meet them
R2L participants earn up to 35 service-learning hours and certification as a Shared Inquiry Leader by the Great Books Foundation.
