Tampa Bay Great Books Conference

Calling all Floridian Great Books readers! The 11th annual Tampa Bay Great Books Conference Weekend will be held on January 29–31, 2016. This conference is sponsored by the Tampa Bay Great Books Council, one of the most active and innovative councils within our national community!

The conference will take place at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront Hotel in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. This year’s conference theme is “Cuba: Looking at the Island Through History, Memoir, and Fiction.” The three readings that will be discussed throughout the weekend are:

  • Cuba in the American Imagination, Louis A Pérez
  • Waiting for Snow in Havana, Carlos Eire
  • Dreaming in Cuban, Cristina García

In addition to these book discussions, the Tampa Bay Great Books Council has scheduled several other social events for the weekend, including an opening reception and dinner at the hotel. After the opening reception, conference attendees will hear from keynote speaker Annie Betancourt about her experiences in Cuban-American relations.

Registration is limited to 55 attendees, so be sure to register today! For more information on how to register, contact Sara Cohen President of the Tampa Bay Great Books Council.
