At Home in Hemingway’s World: An Exploration of Homecoming Through Literature
Join us July 19 at Dominican University for a unique Talking Service event—discussions of two short stories by Ernest Hemingway and Tim O’Brien, followed by a featured presentation from Tim O’Brien, author of the acclaimed collection The Things They Carried. Their stories “Soldier’s Home” and “In the Field/Field Trip” depict the complex process of reassimilation combat veterans experience after their long desired homecoming. We’re honored to partner with the International Hemingway Society, the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park, and Dominican University to offer this exciting community event for veterans, their family members and caregivers, and anyone interested in supporting vets.
The $20 registration fee includes a copy of our anthology Standing Down: From Warrior to Civilian (which includes both stories), participation in discussions, a casual dinner, and Tim O’Brien’s presentation. Read more and register for the event!
