Great American Read As part of the PBS The Great American Read program, Nancy Carr moderated a panel discussion of four books from the top 100 list on October 20 at the Chicago Cultural Center. Panelists included Donna Seaman, editor of the adult book section of Booklist, Liesl Olson, Director of Chicago Studies at the Newberry Library, and Julia Fine, novelist and writing instructor. After a screening of part of the PBS program, panelists considered the legacies of Invisible Man, The Great Gatsby, Rebecca, and Little Women and took questions from audience members.

Studs Terkel The Great Books Foundation is proud to be partnering with the Studs Terkel Radio Archive, the Chicago History Museum, and WFMT, to bring compelling audio to high school students across the country. GBF has developed an innovative high school curriculum based on interviews conducted by Studs Terkel with civil rights activists in the 1960s and 1970s.
