A multi-ethnic group of school children are indoors in a classroom. They are sitting on the floor and eagerly listening to their teacher read a storybook.

Part One Overview Description

This quick 45-minute briefing will show you how participating in Junior Great Books and using the Shared Inquiry method of learning meets the unique learning needs of students of all ages. In Junior Great Books, students have authentic opportunities to:

  • Practice speaking and listening
  • Build their thinking—including if they change their minds
  • Engage in sustained interaction through multiple encounters with the material
  • Support greater involvement and identification of underserved gifted students

Our program deepens students’ critical thinking skills, promotes student-driven learning, and increases engagement for students and teachers. Our program demonstrates that the needs of diverse learners can be effectively and intentionally met in a shared experience.

This session will show you how our inquiry-based learning method and rich content fosters more inclusive learning by welcoming all students. Shared Inquiry learning is driven by the ideas, interests, and needs of the students.

We will also furnish you with sample lesson plans for your grade level and tailored to your needs, so you will have the opportunity to examine our selections. In addition, you can view the complete sequence of interpretive activities we use to help all students get the very most out of reading and collaborating throughout Junior Great Books units!
